The Scrap Merchants
Acoustic/electric, rock fusion sound with political, social, and personal themes. Conjuring, capturing, and rediscovering the world we all live in, we draw inspiration from the noise around us, embracing life and addressing issues that affect all of us.
Based in North Texas, the current lineup draws on decades of experience, including:
James Mahaffey – vocals, electric and acoustic guitars, octave mandolin, writing/arrangements
Floyd Brigdon – vocals, acoustic guitar, bass, other stringy things
Marvin Cardona - vocals, electric and acoustic guitars, mandolin, bass and fiddly bits
Greg Durham – cajon, djembe, cymbals, misc. percussion, thunk and crash.

Sep 23-25, 2016 - We had such a great time last year, we're coming back for more! The Scrap Merchants will be performing at FenCon XIII, the premier regional sci-fi/fantasy/filk convention in the North Texas region! This year, Fencon's music guest of honor Bill and Brenda Sutton! There will be many more musical acts (including the return of Dr. Mary Crowell as a special guest!) as well as honored guests Jim C. Hines, Sara Felix, Kristina Carroll, Michael S. Brotherton, Esther Friesner, Rachel Swirsky, Tiffany Franzoni and Cat Rambo. Come and join us for a whole weekend of musicians, writers, artist, scientists and an astronaut!

Sep 25-27, 2015 - Our first official outing and we couldn't be more thrilled! The Scrap Merchants will be performing at FenCon XII, the premier regional sci-fi/fantasy/filk convention in the North Texas region! You want music by the pound? This will be a weekend filled with acts from around the country like the amazing music guest of honor Tricky Pixie. There will be many more musical acts as well as honored guests S. M. Stirling, Tadao Tomomatsu, Mitch Bentley, Dr. Penny Boston, Jaye Wells, and Rick Loomis. Come for a whole weekend of fun.
